Multnomah Falls - Portland Area

This waterfall was so amazing. We hiked up to the bridge area to get a better view. Thanks Chuck - I am so glad we went here :)

Wahkeena Falls - Portland Area

My friend Chuck told me about some waterfalls just east of Portland. So on our last night there we ran out there. We visited 2 different waterfalls. This was the smaller of the two. We took the short steep hike up to the lookout area about half way up the falls. It was just beautiful. Tomorrow I will post the 2nd waterfall.

Fall Folliage

My drive to Forrest Grove was absolutely amazing. It so reminded me of a picture with vibrant fall colors. The most beautiful red leaves spottede the landscape. There were the red barns with well maintained farms. I just loved this drive. My only complaint is that it was a 2 lane road with no turnouts so I could not really take pictures. Here is the one that I got and it didn't even have the colored trees.

We have seen a lot of fall colors here. Here are a few of the colors from last week.

This picture is from the I5 from Chehalis WA back to Vancouver.

Seaside Oregon

Today we started the day in Seaside checking out the local shops and walking down the promanade. It kind of reminded me of Coney Island as there were rides and such along the shop area.

After we left the promanade area we headed over to Cannon Beach. We first stopped at a state park where we had some great coastal views and this was also a view area for the Tillamook lighthouse.

With the beautiful flowers you would hardly know it was late October.

And then my worst fear crossed my path. Ugh - I can't believe how many caterpillars we saw.

Once we left this view area we went to Cannon Beach. This beach is great fro beach combing if you get there at low tide.

Not sure exactly what this is that washed up. Looks somewhat like a stingray.
This is Haystack Rock. This is where the majority of the beach combing happens. But the tide was high and we could not get out there. We did some beach combing last week in California. Saw lots of star fish and sea anemone. Those posts will be coming soon.

Sunset on the Coast

We headed up to Seaside Oregon tonight and stopped along the way to capture the sunset.

This picture is from Seaside OR. The streets are lined with starfish lights.

This sunset is from Cape Meares Lighthouse. The colors were not very bright - but the park closed at dusk and we feared we would be locked in so we did not stay longer to catch the full sunset.
