Welcome to Historic Goldfield NV

Last year when I drove to Tonopah I passed though historic Goldfield. There was something about this town that made me want to check it out. I remembered it so vividly that when I drove to Tonopah this time I for sure planned to check it out on my way back to Vegas. Here is the town as I saw it.

This is the visitor and information center. Be sure to stop by so you don't miss any of the local attractions.

This is a gold mining town where I believe the main industry is gold mining. It must still be as there were not many people out and about the town. I figured they were out in the gold mines.

I believe this is a gold mine as the landscape is dotted with these types of structures.

I was able to get pretty close to one of them. But didn't want to trespass so I pretty much stuck to the roads (most of which were gravel and dirt)

Don't stress about the long drive to get to this historic town. You can take the train as they have their own railroad company.

Then take the tour bus to see all the sights.
Don't miss out on seeing the Goldfield Park. There are signs so you don't miss it.

The residents seem very hospitable as they make sure to quench your thirst. The homes were amazing.

The the yard decor - I cannot think of the works to describe it - other than creative.

Plenty of vehicles about the town:

There are a few buildings you should be sure to see. First the court house as that seems to be the place to find out a little more about this town.

The High School:

The Fire Department:

Be sure to stop by the shopping district. They are open and ready for business:

For your safety I recommend that you do not walk the streets alone. I think there must be a terrible crime problem as there were at least 15 cop cars parked in various areas of the city. Most at the court house.
Yes - people actually live in this area. I was there when the elementary school let out. I did witness 4 kids leaving the school. In addition - I also witnessed a vehicle driving up to the local saloon. So there were a few signs of life. Definately an interesting town to drive through. I recommend you take a few minutes and detour off the hwy 95 to enjoy this town.
